It's sunrise.

LJ: Daybreak

As the sky grew lighter and lighter, I forced my reflex reaction down and simply remained standing. Soon there was no denying; the sun was up.

It was my first sunrise in centuries.

I couldn't help but smile, feeling the warmth of the sun for the first time in far too many years. It seemed a little ironic that I'd gotten so caught up in the increased strength, the agelessness, all the sudden benefits... that I'd forgotten how wonderful it was to simply watch and feel the sun rise.

The city below echoed with the screams of my less-progressive fellows.

Dave: Identity Crisis

“This isn’t gonna work,” I said.

“We’ll see soon enough, monster.”

“I’m not a goddamned vampire!”

“So you say.” He took a deep breath, looked off to the east across the rooftops. The sun would rise over the Oakland Hills soon enough.

I twisted against the cross-festooned ropes. He hadn’t taken any chances on the knots. “You’re gonna look pretty silly when I don’t burst into flames.”

Bixby turned. “You’ve defied the crosses. You may well know how to defy the purifying sun.” He held up a wooden stake and a hammer. “We’ll see if you pass the third test.”
