TIMING IS EVERYTHING
Wesley wasn't reluctant to buy the wristwatch because it cost more than he felt comfortable spending. The salesman's ghoulish looks and sinister gaze imbued him with a chilly foreboding, as if he'd walked off the street and into the middle of an old horror film. After the gray-faced salesman moaned, "Use your new wristwatch carefully, Mr. Cabot," like a corpse risen from the dead, Wesley exited Expert Timing as quickly as he could.
A few minutes later, when he tried to set the wristwatch in the park, every flower, tree, and pigeon died. When we reset the watch they lived.

EXPERT TIMING GOLDFARB'S WAY
Goldfarb had trained for the event from the day he had seen it first televised in 1993.
He had been three years old at the time and the drama of the event had molded his young mind.
He had studied the profile of every athlete, their strengths and weaknesses.
Every person throughout the world that could possibly beat him.
Deep in his heart he knew he could not win.
Goldfarb knelt in his lane, fitting his feet into the blocks.
He was alone on the track except for the starting officials.
Amazing how all those accidents had occurred this morning.
