Todd could never understand why they always left behind some clue that any fool could spot. That certainly was not going to happen to him. He was far too careful for that!

He disposed of her body and carefully removed all forensic evidence in the house. Only then did he report her missing.

The detective seemed polite enough, though not very bright of course. "We'll do all we can to find her, sir."

"Thanks very much. This is so very unlike her."

"Yes sir, just one more question: Could you explain the blood on that meat cleaver in your hand?"
