The Light of My Life:

“You are my sunshine,”
“My only sunshine.”
“You keep me happy,”
“When skies are gray.”

The song my father sang to calm me, to envelope me, in love.

The tune won’t leave me today. In anguish, I weep continually, knowing ‘we never had the chance.’

I see my father, at the front of the room, and the other familiar faces seem to disappear. As I look at his face my weeping becomes audible, yet I feel no shame.

It turns me inside-out …he never got to hold his granddaughter. I cry aloud…, as he stares vacantly,
into her tiny coffin.

Noooo, we told them they could use titles, because *our* titles do not count against us on the front page.
