Winfrid taunted the tree like a woodsman Elijah, sucking the god from it like stubborn red sap. When his ax gorged wet wood like good teeth in ripe apples Donar's tribes knew he'd lost them to Christ-god. That the cult-prize of Wodin, their war god, and Donar, his thunder, built a strong Christ-hall meant Winfrid's were the right Father and Son lords to worship. Winfrid became Boniface, this people's Patron, and Christ-god became in their thinking the First and the Last of all things. Wodin and Donar became Wednesday and Thursday, not the beginnings or ends of even a week.

"We're going," her mother stated flatly.

"No," Ratitia replied, equally flatly.

"It's Halloween. It's a time for family."

"But they're weird," the daughter emphatically understated. "Uncle Pugsley will want me to play with his octopus again, and Thing will pinch my butt."

"He likes you."

"It's creepy."

"That's bad?"

Ratitia rolled her eyes as only the teenager embarrassed by her mother could -- with her mom, she had it to an art. "Grandma Morticia will complain about my clothes."

"You don't dress like us."

"Mom... there's nothing wrong with a little color."

An expressive sigh. "Why can't you be a Goth?"

I just finished franticly looking for the theme-suggestion box…

I, amazingly enough, wrote a pretty good story today. Well, actually, like every story I’ve written that was any good at all (and that’s a very small number of stories, maybe just one, really) it kind of wrote itself.

But, when it was done with itself, it had absolutely nothing to do with the theme. Not even a long descriptive explanatory title (I know how much you love those) can tie it in.

So… if I could know the theme rotation please, I could telepathically suggest themes that my story fits.

Whoops,

Some how my title missed the cut and paste procedure

Fittingly my title is “Woe Is Me”

That's odd. We used to have a Theme Suggestion box, but I don't see it now. I'm going to hazard a guess that there were issues.

Guess hazarding sounds hazardous.

The theme suggestion box was the recipient of unending bits of spam, therefore became the recipient of deletion.

So THAT'S what happened to all that spam! Some of my best theme ideas came from that spam.
