The Building of Self-Esteem

“Whats tisit?” She gently asks, with a question so deeply focused in her eyes, it confounds my soul.

“It’s an album.” I answer, not really trying to explain. For, at not quite three years old, she’ll never understand, not now, not when she’s thirteen, or thirty, not ever. “They don’t sell many of these anymore.”

“How comes Daddy?”

“How come what, doll?”

“How comes not sells ninny more?”

I attempt to suppress the urge to get philosophical, unsuccessfully, “Vinyl, aint nothing like it, nothing captures …”

HuH?” she interrupts.

“Oh, people like the littler ones now, dolly.”

“Oooohh…. I’m little.”
