Getting caught by surprise.

Sally was depressed, not the kind of depressed that holds you in your bed, just the kind that makes you feel like it’s raining, all the time. Still, she wouldn’t let her friends down. She’d be on time, “6:15 Sharp” she’d been told, more than once, the guest of honor would be there at 6:30.

Sally thought as she walked to the house, ‘nobody’s ever thrown me a surprise-party’, and she pouted, ‘my birthday’s Saturday.’

Before she could ring the bell, the door flung open and everyone she knew was looking at her, and yelling “Surprise!” And the sun shone.
