"Optimist is just another way of saying naive dolt in my book," Trevor grumbled. "It morons like him that get themselves killed."
"Ooh a little harsh don't you think?" came my reply.
"Well what bloody moron goes and takes a holiday in Syria right now?" He rapidly retorted.
"He knows what he is doing," Was my half-arsed reply.
Just then my mobile chirped advising me of a text message.
"Don Hilton was taken hostage by Hizbollah! It's just awful." It read.
I silently handed it to Trevor who uncharitably responded..."serves him right the idiot!"
I rather agreed to be honest.

Sherri explored her bruised reflection in the mirror. The purple ring was getting yellow on the edges. Good, that meant it would be fading soon. The split lip was almost fully healed, too. Only a discoloration where the scab had been. She ran her tongue over her molars. Whichever one had loosened had finally tightened back up.
She heard the baby crying, and looked down. She watched the light glint off the ring on her hand, the same hand that rested on her sixteen-week's-pregnant belly.
She still loved him. And he had been so apologetic, had swore, “Never again, baby.”
