The cathode ray tubes hummed briefly and the viewscreen in Lance’s spaceship, the Galaxy One, flickered to reveal Doctor Corrupto’s twisted sneer. “I see you managed to survive my space robots,” Corrupto chuckled. “But you won’t be so lucky this time.”

Square jaw held menacingly tight, Lance glared at the evil mastermind. “What have you done with her, you fiend,” he growled.

“She’s right here. But you should be more worried about the destructor rocket aimed at your spaceship.” Corrupto pulled a lever, launching the missile. “Goodbye, Lance.”

The otherworldly dark figure strides amongst the ruins of the fallen city...

Max Dynamo: Must stop --

A giant shard of glass falls into Lucia Amazonia, slices through her spandex suit and her blood spills like a river.

Max: Aauugh! I will avenge her!

Graph: No, your time was short lived.

Max: Not yet!

Max hurls a chunk of real estate at the dark figure who nimbly steps aside. Max slumps over exhausted and ready to expire.

Max: Where do you come from?

Graph: I am of the future and of the past, I am the dark spirit of...the Graphic Novel.

I suppose some readers understand the difference between 50's pulp and 70's comic book. Then again, that's just a guess.
