Groaning, I rolled over to smack the alarm. Darkness surrounded me. There was no light streaming through the slit in the curtains. Fear consumed each limb. I tried to lie still as I sensed the disorder. The blackness seemed alive its breath rank like a stray dog. Slowly, I forced myself to move coiling ready to spring out of danger in a moment’s notice. The bed suddenly loomed behind me as I stumbled over unfamiliar furniture gasping anxiously. Laughter filled the room as I remembered the conference. A plastic key card lay innocently on the floor among my chaos…room 508.

There’s a very large black dog on my front doorstep. This is the second morning in a row that the dog's made an appearance. I am not sure to whom he belongs. He’s been a good distraction for me. You see, the evening before the dog first appeared, my teenage daughter Alexandra left home with her boyfriend. He is cruel and controlling. I wish she would make the decision to leave him. Nevertheless, I know that she is the one who needs to make this decision. Oh, my heart breaks, for I do not want to see history repeat itself.

There’s a very large black dog following me. It bounds around the place, occasionally dropping a slobber soaked ball at my feet to stumble over. At the moment it lies at my feet and snores. I don’t know what its name is, one day it just started following me and didn’t stop. I have tried ignoring it hoping it will go away, but it remains. “Please” I say to the lady sitting opposite me “how do I get it to go away”. The lady removes her glasses and says “Did you know Winston Churchill also had a large black dog…”

“Swallow it”
“What? No way. I am not swallowing it”.
She was determined. Suddenly all her hard work would tip the scales. Success, defeat. Life, death.
“Sarah. Stop. If they have the slightest inclination that we swallowed the microchip they won’t even stop to kill us before slicing us open.”
“We don’t have much time. They’re coming, and the only way to prevent them detecting it is to bury it inside an organism. You. Or me. Give it here. I’ll do it”
“No Sarah. We have to get next door.” Sarah looked at me, confused.
“There’s a big black dog...”
