You suddenly discover that you're lost...

"Lost again..." I sighed to myself. Not that it was not a normal state of affairs out here in astral planes.

"Well as long as I watch where I am going..." I said to myself. It was easy to get lost out here when astrally exploring. The trick was to make sure you didn't end up anywhere dire.

I peered off into the distance.

"Now that large black floating cloud with tentacle like things over there is probably something to avoid..."

I wrote in a notebook with my pen that doubled as an eject system should I come to bother.

I think I forgot that I hate roadtrips with Tim. He’s my brother and we’ve been more friends than family since we were teens, but he has no sense of direction.

It started out as an easy trip, from Yellowknife to Hamilton, and should have been a simple trip, taking lots of stops along the way, with our end destination to see our grandparents.

I guess Tim must have taken a left instead of a right, and now we were in a wooded area with big “no trespassing” signs on every tenth tree.

I could just kill Tim right now.

“Alright, this isn’t funny anymore!” he called out. Backing up, he felt something brush against his shoulder. He took a swing, but there was nothing of substance. The walls gave way to his push, but wouldn’t release him. “I’m ready to get out!” he shouted. His heart was beating fast and he began to panic. He started to run. Soon, he hit another soft wall. He fell to his knees sobbing, “I give up! You were right, ma!”

His mother smiled at her guest and said, “I told you Tom Thumb can’t find his way out of a paper sack.”

Love’s Lost:

“No no, you all go on home. It’s getting late.”

“I’ll be fine, really.”

“No, no, thank you though. You’ll sleep much better in your own beds.”

“Oh, that’s very sweet of you, but go, I’m fine – really, I’m fine.”

“It was a good day, a very good day.”

“You’re grandfather and I….
Well, we loved each other so deeply that neither one of us wanted the
other to bear the burden of living on alone.”

“I thought of that at the cemetery today.”

“Today was a good day.”

“Go home now, good night.”

I'm so terribly lost...

The streets were empty. There were no other people anywhere. It was like they all just disappeared.

Edward sat down on the curb and tried not to cry.

Fires burned in the distance. He was pretty sure it was Pittsburgh. No one was going to put it out.

Car alarms were sounding all over town; some warping horribly as the batteries slowly died.

Everything had been fine when he’d gone to bed last night. But now he was alone; more alone than he’d ever been before.

He had no idea what to do now, or where to go from here.
