A body is found in the desert.

Who is it? How did the body come to be there? What is unusual about the scene?

The man was dressed in clothes likely to be found in late 19th century London rather than 00s California. His hat was found nearby looking worn but in good shape. Rigor had not set in by the time he was found what was most odd however is the fact he seemed to have drowned. He had seawater in his body. Further examnination determined that the man not the least bit modern; having an ivory tooth in his mouth, snuff in his coat and English olde money. In his wallet was found a stamp and a small card celebrating Queen Victoria.

The vehicle sprung back from the hard braking Tom had performed. He threw on the emergency brake and jumped out. Steve followed…at little more reluctantly.

“What is it?” Steve asked, cowering behind Tom and peeking over his shoulder.

“It’s a body.”

“Who is it?”

“Some dude…doesn’t look native.” Tom reached out for the arm then snapped back.

“Is he dead?”

Tom rolled his eyes, “Gee…let me think. He’s lying out in the desert, frozen stiff. What do you think?”

“Where did he come from?”

They both looked up as another plane flew by. “Iced body…oh, I wonder,” Tom replied sarcastically.

Vendetta:

It is lonely being dead, even in the busy places where men work and breathe and play. In the wild, it is worse, and in the desert, why, here it is worst of all.

A thousand years of unfinished business, vengeances untaken will drive the coldest spirit to insanity, and this ghost wasn't that sane when alive.

Possession is an easy trick. One simply summons enough willpower to kick out the higher part's of the body's owner's mind, and nudge their darker desires into actions.

A column of soldiers was approaching the space he haunted. Soon, vengeance would be his.
