The world continued growing quieter and quieter. The ability to hear had left me years ago, but the knowledge of sound holds on. I once believed that as long as I could see I could hear.
It’s not the thoughtful conversation I miss, but the lively banter - the quick turn of wit.
I’ve watched them struggle to understand what I say. My mutterings now unintelligible. I’ve seen the embarrassment sweep through their eyes, as I cannot control my volume.
In the end, my inability to communicate through speech has left me utterly and completely alone. Isolated.
Exiled in silence.

It would take a minor miracle to convince anyone that he had even meant well, much less that he was innocent. However, since it was my duty and I was now forced to make a speech in front of the space station’s inhabitants, I’d do the best I could.
Now, if I could just get the llama out of the briefing room, I’d get started.
