LJ: Balk Like an Egyptian

For a while, Pharaoh was tempted to build his great memorial structure as a cube, but in the end, he decided upon... the Great Octahedron of Giza.

The undertaking lasted years, decades. In the end, there it was... a triangular base, a triangular roof, and six triangles making up its sides.

Sadly, after completion, the ground below gave way, causing the Great Octahedron to tip over until one point stuck into the air, showing only four of the glorious eight faces.

The rest were built as pyramids. Either he wanted to hide the mistake, or just liked the design better.
