Spring rains came down in buckets all day.
"Your hard drive's toast," said the techie. "Got backups?"
"One from a week ago. The two chapters I wrote over the last week are irreplaceable."
Just minutes earlier the earthen dam a mile upstream from his house had been breached. I grasped that instantly when I saw water under the door. I yelled, "Get out!" Grabbing my laptop, I raced toward the back door to higher ground. -- I barely made it.
The techie's upper body was muscular.
Trouble was, his back door wasn't wide enough for his wheelchair.
Man, what a swimmer!!
